After-School Animal Welfare Program

The Merrymac Farm Sanctuary is offering a 10 week Animal Welfare Afterschool Program for 9-12 year olds this fall.  Our focus is to introduce students to the 5 values that the ASPCA uses to talk about Animal Welfare and how it relates to our 100 plus animals we have at the sanctuary.

1. Freedom from Hunger and Thirst

2. Freedom from Discomfort

3. Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease

4. Freedom to Express Normal Behavior

5. Freedom from Fear and Distress

These lessons are taught each day as your child works along with staff to care for our animals, feed them their evening meals, move them in and out of their habitats, watch them receive any evening medicine or extra vetting care they may need and see the day to day care of many different species of animals.
