Volunteer Orientation

We are always seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help with the sanctuary.

Volunteer Guidelines:

  • Age 15 or older

  • Caring and compassionate attitude

  • Ability to work around animals

  • Must commit to at least 1 shift per week

Volunteers can help with:

  • Farm Chore/Animal Care Shifts

    • Daily 9:00 am to Noon

  • Classroom/Bunny/Small Animal Care shifts

    • Daily 9:00 am to Noon

  • Produce pick ups

    • Daily pick ups from Shaw’s or Hannaford in South Burlington 9:00 am

What to wear: Wear clothes to be outside. Boots are necessary for the sanctuary. If you have farm animals at home or go to other barns, please wear shoes that have not been exposed to those barns

Examples of Volunteer Tasks

  • Clean stalls

  • Rake common areas

  • Sweep/Leaf blow/Rake

  • Empty water buckets/scrub

  • Fill hay bags/hay feeders

  • Fill water buckets & troughs

  • Fill outside troughs

  • Clean and rake pig areas

  • Give pigs love and belly rubs

  • Do dishes

  • Remove cob webs

  • Clean goat and sheep areas

  • Brush goats and give them love

  • Take sheep for a walk and give them love

  • Walk or groom horses

  • Give cows love and treats (thru the fence)

  • Pick up bowls and help clean up

  • Help in the classroom with Rabbit Care, Bird Care, etc
