Meet the Cows

Babette is a large Highland female cow who is almost 15 years old. Babs (as we call her) came to us after her mother died in Connecticut and she needed a new companion. She joined our other Highland cow Savannah, and settled in quite well. Babs needed her hooves trimmed very badly - which was quite the adventure! At MMFS we strive to have all of our animals receive routine care, so we are catching up on some of her care. She is a lovely force-- we love her so! Babs is a big Fig Newton fan!!

Savannah is a 10 year old Highland cow from Virginia. She came to MMFS in October 2024 through our connections with the Farm Sanctuary Adoption Network, where her owners reached out to find her a new home. She has impressive horns and a beautiful mottled coat. We are so excited to have Savannah as the first cow rescued at MMFS. She is the perfect fit, and maybe will get more friends in the future, but for now she is a happy girl who loves fig newtons.

Wallace is a five year old black Highland steer who had been a backyard pet in Connecticut. His family needed to rehome him due to health issues. He’s a bit goofy and is selective on his treat preferences. His two sisters eat Fig Newtons, but he refuses to eat cookies in general! He has completely settled in to MMFS. It’s like he has lived here his whole life!
